Major Rally At Illinois Capitol Will Protest Pointless Gun Control Bills

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Feb. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

“We’re not going away!,” will be the message that thousands of Illinois firearm owners will be delivering to members of the Illinois General Assembly on March 5th as the 2014 edition of Illinois Gun Owners’ Lobby Day (iGOLD) comes to the capitol city.

“There are some out there who believe that the enactment of concealed carry has taken the wind out of the sails of the Illinois gun rights movement,” commented ISRA Executive Director, Richard Pearson.  “That’s not exactly the case.  Gun owners from across the state are energized and highly motivated to defeat the punitive gun control proposals now being introduced to the general assembly.  On March 5th, legislators will learn a civics lesson as gun owners from their districts meet them in their offices and in the halls of the Capitol to lobby against pointless restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms.  The sea of gold shirts and hats flooding the Capitol will be a vivid reminder to all that we are here to stay and that we are determined to preserve our heritage and protect our constitutional rights.”

The iGOLD event kicks off with a rally at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center at 11:30 AM.  Participants will march to the Capitol’s Lincoln Steps for a 1:00 PM rally followed by a lobbying session with their representatives.  The day’s events end with a closing rally at 3:00 PM in the Capitol Rotunda.

The ISRA is the state’s leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership.  For more than a century, the ISRA has represented the interests of millions of law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.
