About MEAKU:

Chibuike Franklyn Omeaku, the singer-songwriter, producer, arranger, and engineer, was destined for stardom since the beginning of his existence. Better known by his stage name “Meaku” (derived from his last name Omeaku, meaning “Producer of Wealth”), he is one of the humble, hard-working individuals in this industry today.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Meaku was raised in a household where education and spirituality was very important. Being deeply rooted in those beliefs, he went on to study business, law, and journalism, although sound engineering was his passion. While developing a love for business and entrepreneurship, Meaku learned that in order to succeed within the entertainment industry, you have to be knowledgeable of the business and in order to become relevant, you have to understand global marketing. He went on to form IsLo Records, which gave other talented artists an opportunity to be creative, be themselves, and build careers of longevity.

Meaku, International Pop/R&B artist, has a passion for music and is a firm believer that if one puts God first and chases his/her dreams, one could never go wrong. Meaku is inspired by several leading performers in today’s music industry. These inspirations include but are not limited to, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Tupac Shakur, and R&B artist Joe.  Such artists have directly influenced his melodic rhythm, engaging lyrics and classic style of music. After realizing his love for music was indeed something he would never give up, Meaku was determined to show his lyrical maturity. Throughout the years, he has performed with several recording artists such as Drake, Trey Songz, New Boys, YG, B.O.B., Kevin McCall, and E-40. Many of these artists have stated that Meaku is a driving force all by himself.

Meaku has created a buzz for himself over the course of time in several different aspects, by collaborating with several different artists in different markets. One of his main releases was his hit single “Memories”, featuring Grammy Award Winning artist LV (from U.S Hip Hop Artist Coolio’s Gangster’s Paradise of the 1995 hit movie Dangerous Minds). The record was featured on a compilation distributed worldwide by Street Sounds, Absolute, and Universal U.K. Meaku was also featured on an MTV Base “Choose or Lose” Campaign where he sang the chorus on “Rep 4 Naija” with Nigerian artists eLDee, Sound Sultan, Mi, Naeto C, Black Twang and D’BanJ. This song was geared to encourage the youth in Nigeria to VOTE and show them that their votes counted towards building a greater Nigeria.

Although Meaku’s artistry is undeniable, he prides himself on being a true humanitarian. Following the horrific natural disasters in Japan in March 2011, Meaku along with Producer Andrew Ugalde, composed a tribute piece entitled “Stronger”. He was able to join forces with Tokyo’s #1 radio station, Joint One Radio, along with iTunes, Amazon, eMusic, Napster, and several other online retailers to sell the “Stronger” record; donating all the proceeds to reforms in Japan. Meaku’s love for the youth inspired him to develop a foundation called “A Dream for Tomorrow”.  It was established to encourage the youth to believe in their dreams and for parents to act as a support system for their child’s dreams. Being a father himself, Meaku understands that instilling encouragement and support into parenting, will give a child a greater chance at succeeding in life.

Meaku feels if one lives a life of love, patience, integrity, and loyalty, a lifetime of prosperity will follow. “With Faith we can accomplish anything, with Love we can spread Peace”, says Meaku. This is a quote that has driven Meaku to become a true Humanitarian. His views on life have allowed him to continue to flourish, and combined with his many talents, this makes him a definite force to be reckoned with.
